Patient Registration Representative

Job Description

Shift: Midnights

Our Emergency Department Patient Access team provides timely, accurate, and compassionate registration services in a fast-paced environment. The team supports patients from arrival through bedside registration, verifies demographic and insurance information, and obtains required compliance forms. We work closely with nursing and clinical teams to support patient flow, protect patient privacy, and ensure registration supports timely care. Teamwork, clear communication, and flexibility are essential to serving our patients and supporting one another.

Role Overview

As a Patient Registration Rep, you will be the first point of contact for patients, ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience. You will handle patient registration, insurance verification, and cash collections, while advocating for patient needs. Your role is vital in creating a positive first impression and ensuring efficient operations for our clinical and non-clinical teams.

What You Will Do

• Greet and check in patients, ensuring a welcoming experience.
• Verify insurance eligibility and collect payments accurately.
• Update patient registration and insurance information in our systems.
• Respond to inquiries from callers and customers, advocating for their needs.
• Perform new patient registration and preregistration tasks efficiently.
• Collaborate with clinical and non-clinical staff to ensure seamless operations.

Qualifications

Required:

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• Strong computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
• Ability to meet or exceed core customer service responsibilities, standards, and behaviors.

Preferred:

• One (1) year of experience in patient admitting, registration, and/or insurance eligibility verification in a hospital or medical office setting.
• EPIC training/experience and familiarity with insurance payor systems.
