Hiring a Medical Coder? Reach medical coders, billers and revenue cycle staff who are looking for their next job.
Post a Job →A medical coder reads provider documentation and assigns the ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes, CPT procedure codes, HCPCS codes and modifiers that payers need to process a claim, following official coding guidelines, NCCI edits and payer policy.
Most coders are certified (usually the AAPC CPC, or AHIMA's CCS-P or CCS) and work in physician practices, hospitals, billing companies and coding vendors, often fully remote, under productivity and accuracy standards.
BLS counts medical coders in medical records specialists, an occupation that also includes records staff who do not code. Source: BLS OEWS May 2025, SOC 29-2072 Medical Records Specialists. BLS pay excludes overtime and the self-employed.
