St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport has more than 3,200 employees. It includes a 473-bed community teaching hospital, a 76-bed inpatient psychiatric facility in Westport, a large multispecialty provider group, and special needs services for adults and children. Job Summary:
• Performs clerical and reception duties associated with patient registration.

Responsibilities:
• Greets patients and visitors, responds to questions/concerns and directs them
to appropriate location. Provides on-going communication with clinical staff
regarding patient status.
• Collects and enters all necessary demographic, clinical, billing and insurance
information from patients or responsible parties.
• Explains processes and forms to patients prior to securing signatures and
ensures that all documents are properly signed and witnessed as required.
• Determines and accepts required payments, including co-pays and
deductibles.
• Produces admission paperwork on each patient and distributes in a timely
manner to appropriate departments/staff.
• Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts
responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
• Abides by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability privacy and
security regulations regarding all aspects of Protected Health Information (PHI).

• schedules all appointments in the electronic medical record
   

Qualifications

Work Experience:

• One year related experience.
• Basic clerical, computer and keyboarding skills.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.
